Who we are

Find out a little bit more about our wonderful team of staff and volunteers who will welcome you at Flourish:

Meet the team

Flourish Hub Facilitator –

Matilda (or Tilda as she likes to be known) first came across Citizens Advice Wirral back in 2016 when she needed some help and support with her mental health, finances and employability. With some encouragement from her caseworker and her employability course leader, Tilda started volunteering for Citizens Advice Wirral. It didn’t take long until she landed a part time position on the Ask Us Wirral telephone advice service. Her hours gradually increased as she became used to working life and her confidence and self esteem grew.

After a year she took another position with Citizens Advice Wirral on their Social Prescribing Team. She was able to help people in the same way that she, herself had been helped and found this very rewarding. After a few years working as a Social Prescriber, Tilda applied for the Flourish Hub Facilitator role and is now managing and running the hub, that supports and helps people in our community who don’t know where else to turn.

Tilda used to perform in a band and still has a great love of music. She believes; ‘music is chicken soup for the soul!’

Tilda and her team of volunteers are at the hub Monday to Thursday, ready to provide a listening ear and to help you find solutions to your troubles so you can Flourish in life!

Flourish Hub Volunteers –

Chris G

Chris has been volunteering with Citizens Advice since 2016 and spent most of his first few years on reception in the Wallasey office. When the office had to close during the pandemic he helped out in transporting case papers and office equipment to and from staff and volunteers homes, and then later joined the administration team.

“I eagerly volunteered for the Wellbeing Hub as soon as I learned about its opening. My role at Flourish involves welcoming visitors, listening to their concerns, and guiding them to the appropriate support. Interacting with our service users face to face is incredibly fulfilling—I genuinely feel like I’m making a tangible difference and providing valuable assistance to those in need.”

Meet Glenys, our dedicated volunteer with a heart of gold! Glenys has been an integral part of Citizens Advice Wirral for an impressive 16 years, and she’s been shining her light at Flourish since its opening in November 2022.

Retirement didn’t slow Glenys down; instead, it inspired her to contribute in a meaningful way. “I wanted to do something worthwhile, and I was aware of the amazing service that Citizens Advice Wirral provided,” she shares.

Glenys finds joy in being at Flourish, where she engages with various services and learns about Social Prescribing. She particularly appreciates Tilda and adds, “She has not paid me to say that!”

Outside of Flourish, Glenys fills her free time with activities she loves. Walking, baking, socialising, spending time with family and friends, and being an active member of a Ladies club, where she organises fundraisers for local charities.

With six months of invaluable volunteer experience here at Flourish, Alison has become an integral part of our team, enriching our community with her passion for helping others.

After embarking on early retirement, Alison sought out opportunities to give back, and she discovered Flourish. Since then, she has found great fulfillment in connecting with people from diverse organisations within Flourish and immersing herself in the array of vital support services they provide.

Alison’s genuine enthusiasm shines through as she engages with clients and collaborates with fellow volunteers and organisations, striving to make a positive difference in every interaction. Her caring nature and eagerness to assist ensures that every client who walks through our doors receives the support they need. We are grateful to have Alison as part of our team, and we appreciate her unwavering dedication to helping others flourish.

Beyond her volunteer work, Alison enjoys spending quality time with her loved ones, indulging in activities such as swimming, aqua aerobics, walking, reading, and travelling.

Introducing Helen, a dedicated volunteer with Citizens Advice Wirral since 2016. Helen’s journey with Citizens Advice Wirral began when she sought help after losing her job, finding invaluable support and advice. Grateful for the assistance, she decided to pay it forward by becoming a volunteer.

Starting on reception in the old Wallasey office, Helen now contributes one day a week as an administrator and another day here at Flourish Wellbeing Hub. At the hub, she assists individuals in finding the right support, drawing from her own positive experience.

Helen cherishes her volunteer experience, citing the camaraderie with her team and colleagues. Outside of volunteering, she indulges in her passion for cooking, enjoys traveling, and relishes in the simple joy of walking.

“It’s really nice to see people coming through the doors at Flourish and to see them being helped when they don’t know where to turn.”
